ZolaPages (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website zolapages.co.uk, a directory of African-owned businesses in the UK. We are based in the United Kingdom and are subject to UK data protection law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. What information we collect
Information you give us directly:
- Your name and email address when you create an account or sign up
- Business information you submit (name, address, phone, category, description)
- Messages you send through the enquiry and contact forms
- Information provided when claiming or verifying a listing
Information collected automatically:
- Browser type, device type, and IP address
- Pages visited and time spent on the site
- Referral source (how you found us)
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Display and manage business listings on the directory
- Process and respond to enquiries sent through the site
- Verify business ownership when a claim is submitted
- Send transactional emails (enquiry notifications, claim confirmations)
- Improve and maintain the website
- Comply with legal obligations
Our lawful basis for processing is primarily legitimate interests (operating the directory) and contract performance (fulfilling your account and listing requirements). Where we send marketing emails, we will seek your consent separately.
4. Business listings and public data
Business listings on ZolaPages are publicly visible. If you submit or claim a business, the information you provide (name, phone, address, website, description) will be displayed publicly on the site and may be indexed by search engines such as Google.
Some listings may be created from publicly available sources (e.g. Google Maps, business websites). If you are the owner of a listed business and wish to update or remove your listing, please contact us at support@zolapages.co.uk.
5. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with:
- Supabase — our database and authentication provider (EU-based servers)
- Resend — our transactional email provider
- Vercel — our hosting provider
- Stripe — our payment provider (only when processing Premium subscriptions)
All third-party providers are contractually required to protect your data and only process it on our instructions.
6. Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we delete personal data within 90 days unless we are required by law to retain it. Business listing data may be retained in anonymised form for analytical purposes.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data (the “right to be forgotten”)
- Restriction — ask us to limit how we process your data
