Listing Policy
Last updated: May 2026
Our commitment
ZolaPages is built on trust. Every listing must represent a real, genuinely operating business. These standards protect the community — customers and business owners alike.
What we allow
- African-owned or African-serving businesses operating in the UK
- Sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, community organisations, churches, and freelancers
- Businesses in any of our listed categories
- UK-based services offered remotely (e.g. online tutoring, virtual legal consultations)
What we do not allow
- Fake, duplicate, or fictitious business listings
- Listings for businesses that have permanently closed
- Misleading business names, descriptions, or categories
- Contact details that route to a different business
- Illegal businesses or services
- Unlicensed financial services or regulated services without proper authorisation (e.g. FCA-regulated activities, SRA-regulated legal services)
- Multi-level marketing or pyramid scheme promotions
- Listings used primarily to collect personal data without a genuine service
Verification
All submitted listings are reviewed before going live. The “Verified” badge is awarded to businesses that have confirmed ownership through one of the following:
- Phone verification at the listed number
- Email verification at the listed business email
- Social media confirmation (we contact the account)
- Company registration number match (Companies House)
Verification confirms ownership only — not quality of service. We do not endorse any listed business.
Pre-seeded listings
Some listings are created from publicly available information to help make the directory useful from day one. These are marked “Unclaimed.” Owners can claim and edit them free of charge. If your business is listed incorrectly or you wish it removed, contact us and we will act within 2 working days.
Removal
We may remove or suspend a listing if:
- It violates this policy or our Terms of Use
- We receive a credible complaint about the business
- The business has closed or is no longer operating
- The listing owner requests removal
- We are required to remove it by law
Reporting a listing
If you see a listing that violates this policy, click “Report inaccurate info” on the listing page, or email us at support@zolapages.co.uk. We investigate all reports and aim to respond within 2 working days.
Financial and regulated services
Businesses offering regulated financial services (such as money transfer, insurance, mortgages, or investment advice) must hold the appropriate FCA authorisation. Solicitors and legal advisers must be authorised by the SRA or another approved regulator. We check these where possible, but it is your responsibility to ensure your listing accurately reflects your regulatory status.
